After months of development work, iZotope has finally released RX 8! I’m so proud of all the work our team put in over the past months to get this out the door.
I worked primarily on the updated Batch Processor, a tool for applying the same chain of processing steps to many audio files simultaneously.
Aside from a completely redesigned UI, the new Batch Processor adds two key features.
First, the processing is no longer a special Batch Processor-specific processing chain. Instead, we embedded Module Chain, a feature for processing a chain of effects on an individual file, into Batch Processor. This means that there is one shared UX for a chain of processing in RX, and any saved presets can be accessed in Module Chain or in Batch Processor.
The second feature is the Output options. Previously, only one output destination and file format could be selected for a batch. This meant that if the user needed their files in two formats they would have to re-run the entire processing chain just for the second output format. Now, multiple output selections can be selected, so that the expensive processing only needs to run once.
I’m proud of how much work my colleague Eric Reesman and I put into Batch Processor, and am excited for it to be out in the world!
