Flowery Dress

I had a lot of fun making this flowery dress! I made the pattern by tracing an existing knit dress I love and adjusting it. The scoop back with straps is my own design, and I also made the skirt longer and fuller than the reference dress.

I made the skirt longer and fuller so it has a nice twirl for dancing
I designed a scoop back with crossing straps.

The fabric is a beautiful flowery knit I found at Joann Fabric. It’s super stretchy and soft. One thing I wish I’d done differently is that I didn’t notice how much thicker the knit in the reference dress is compared to this fabric. I should have been more careful to compare how stretchy the two knits were before I made the pattern—I ended up having to make adjustments as I went because the flowery knit is a little less stretchy than the reference dress. Overall though I’m happy with how it turned out!
